Prague: Castles, Chimney Cakes, and Lennon

This past weekend, I was able to visit Prague, Czech Republic and I fell in love with the city. All of the sidewalks and paths are made of cobblestone, the buildings are colorful, and there are castles everywhere.

I could stay at the Lennon Wall all day. There was a man on the guitar singing Beatles and John Lennon songs, everyone was happy, and there was inspiration and good vibes everywhere. I picked out some quotes from the wall that caught my eye:

“May the best of your past be the worst of your future”

“If you lover, if you hater, if you troublemaker. We love you anyway”

“For the nights we won’t remember with the friends we won’t forget”

The quotes and sayings and words of happiness go on and on. We were also able to sign the wall with UNH and our initials.

In addition to the Lennon Wall, we really enjoyed Old Time Square. We were able to climb to the top of the Vez tower for a BEAUTIFUL view and see the Astronomical Clock strike on the hour. There were magicians and food vendors and bubbles at the square; it was so lively and happy.

The Prague Castle had another amazing view of the city. We climbed onto the ledge to get a better look, which was a little scary, but the view was worth it! There was also an architecturally beautiful church at the top of the hill (seen behind the 5 girls in the picture above). There were several stained glass windows that were breathtaking. I could not get the pictures inside of the church to do the windows and architecture justice.

The food was AMAZING. We loved warming up at a cafe with a coffee or tea and a crepe after sightseeing in the cold. We were also on a mission to get chimney cakes filled with ice cream which were so unbelievably good. There were chimney cake stands everywhere and every time you would walk past one it would smell amazing. It was very cold, but the ice cream we got with ours was absolutely incredible. Be sure to follow my food Instagram if you are interested in seeing the food I am trying abroad (@hungaryforempanadas)!

We were all sad to leave Prague. It was very clean, everyone was happy, and it felt like we were living in a fairy tale. We all agreed that it would be the perfect city to fall in love in. We returned to Budapest on Monday night, and I flying to London tomorrow night after class! Stay tuned!
